The House Skate park has been open since 7th May 1998 down in the depths of Sheffield (just down the road from the Ski Village - the extreme quarter). It's contained in a 10,500 sq ft warehouse which used to be a smelting plant.
It's open
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 12-9
Tuesday 5-9
Thursday 5-10
Saturday, Sunday 10-9
During the school holidays we are open longer hours - phone or email us to find out.
It costs £2.50 for 1 hour, £3.50 for two hours, £4.50 for three hours, £5.50 for four hours, £6.50 for five hours and £7 for all day. Membership cost £1 and lasts forever! (as long as you don't loose your card)
Good news for people who hate helmets we've finally got the insurance to change the rules.
Skateboarders 14 or over don't have to wear them unless they want to.
Rollerbladers 16 or over don't have to wear them unless they want to.
It took us a while to sort it out but thanks for staying with us.
We have a nice 16ft mini ramp linked back to back with a 8ft mini which connects to a spine which connects to a fly off facing two large roll-ins. The street course starts with a big flat bank, an 8ft high quarter pipe and a 5ft quarter pipe end piece, facing our big drive way with the rail and gaps attached to a 23ft long 1ft high grind box.
Next up is our famous hip; often imitated, never bettered now with a huge wallride attached to the back. Finally for the floor ramps is a low driveway with a long centre box which follows the driveway at one end and round freestanding bar and a rainbow rail on either side. That just leaves our back piece; a 6ft high roll- in, a 12ft wide quarter pipe and our mini steps with ledges (these steps and the replacement for the walking man steps so cruelly taken from us by Sheff Council's silly bylaws). The whole park has a wooden floor (no more concrete scars) and many small grindy things to make lines out of. To one side of the main course is the mini house, which is made up of a two foot high mini, two flat banks, a grind box and a small spine. The bad news for bikers and owners of those crappy scooter things is the House is purely a skate park - so that's boards and blades only - which means we're able to keep our coping round and our ramps hole free.
If none of that made sense then check out the picture gallery 'cos you know what they say about a picture being worth a thousand words.
